The International Research Center of Tropical Regions – (ReCeT) of the University of Agriculture in Krakow (URK) is a university-wide organizational unit established by the Rector's Order No. 62/2023 of September 25, 2023.
The International Research Center of Tropical Regions (IRCTR) is a university-wide unit of the University of Agriculture in Kraków, established by the Rector's Order No. 62/2023 of September 25, 2023.
ReCeT (in Polish CeBOT) refers to the long-standing history and tradition of URK, where the Department of Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and Forestry existed since 1968, transformed into the Department of World Agriculture in 1994 and operating until 1999.
The establishment of ReCeT is the result of the involvement of a group of people and the implementation of their idea of directing teaching and research cooperation conducted by staff of our University in the tropical and subtropical regions. In recent years, since 2019, they have been carrying out long-term and short-term trips to these regions of the world.
The idea of establishing the ReCeT arose from the need to formalize international cooperation in such a specific and distinct in terms of nature and culture area of our globe.
The task of ReCeT is to initiate, coordinate and implement research and teaching projects in the scope of scientific disciplines evaluated at the University of Agriculture in Kraków.
The research areas implemented by the Centre include:
- Natural resources of tropical regions, their use and development;
- Socio-economic changes;
- Agriculture, production and processing of food products - agricultural and natural aspects;
- Environmental and nature protection;
- International trade and logistics.
